[00:00:01] Welcome to Wednesday One Shots, the series where we share a bite-sized bonus story with

[00:00:17] you to help you get through the week.

[00:00:19] This time we have a story from a listener named Wolfmoon77.

[00:00:25] One morning, I woke up around 8 as I usually do.

[00:00:29] I grabbed my laptop for school and everything about the day just went as normal.

[00:00:34] My daily routine consisted of school, chores, hanging out with friends, and sleep.

[00:00:39] Then repeat.

[00:00:41] After school on this day, I didn't have any chores to do as I took care of them on

[00:00:46] the previous day, so I went straight to my friend's house after school.

[00:00:51] I was walking alone and reading a book.

[00:00:54] I read quickly so I could fit in reading a chapter or two during my walk to the friend's

[00:00:59] house.

[00:01:00] I did this all the time.

[00:01:02] But this time, the walk didn't feel normal.

[00:01:06] I felt like I was being watched.

[00:01:09] The feeling of being watched is not normal for me at all.

[00:01:12] This is something I rarely feel because I have just a few close friends and we usually

[00:01:18] don't attract too much attention, which I like.

[00:01:22] I essentially feel like I'm in the shadows.

[00:01:25] When this feeling of being watched came over me, I looked around and saw no one.

[00:01:30] No cars.

[00:01:31] Nothing.

[00:01:32] I didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

[00:01:35] As I was getting closer to my friend's house, I didn't think much of this feeling and brushed

[00:01:39] it off.

[00:01:40] That is until a car pulled around the corner.

[00:01:44] My first thought was, it's just a car.

[00:01:47] I see cars in this area all the time.

[00:01:50] It's a popular neighborhood.

[00:01:52] The car slowed down and started to follow me.

[00:01:56] I put the book that I was reading away and I grabbed a knife that I always kept on me

[00:02:02] just in case I needed it.

[00:02:04] I didn't want to endanger my friend or anyone for that matter, but I felt like I had to

[00:02:09] do something so I stopped and stood there to see what the car would do.

[00:02:15] The car stopped as well and I turned to look as this man got out of the passenger seat.

[00:02:23] I began to run away with my knife.

[00:02:26] Probably not the best move, but it was all I could think of to do on the spot.

[00:02:30] I don't know what would have happened if I didn't move and I'm glad that the first thing

[00:02:34] that came to mind was to run because this guy came after me.

[00:02:38] He caught up to me.

[00:02:40] I turned to him and I held up the knife and said very firmly, don't come any closer.

[00:02:46] He didn't listen.

[00:02:48] Now I was barely a teenager.

[00:02:52] He approached me and attempted to grab me so I stabbed him in the hand and ran.

[00:02:58] I tripped as I was running away and I cut my leg, but I quickly got up and tried my best

[00:03:03] to keep running.

[00:03:04] Thankfully, somebody knew that I was outside and they called 911.

[00:03:09] The guy saw the person on the phone and knew what they were doing so they took off.

[00:03:15] I don't know if my split second decision made the situation worse or saved my life, but thanks

[00:03:22] to my friend's neighbor, I'm still here.

[00:03:26] So to the guy in the car, let's not meet again.

[00:03:30] Thank you to Wolfmoon77 for sharing your story.

[00:03:33] If you have a story to share, send it to letsnotmeetstories at gmail.com.

[00:03:39] We'll see you next week for a full episode of Let's Not Meet.

[00:03:42] Everyone stay safe.
